Katie Price Claims Compensation from Sandals for Ruined Wedding

Celebrity Glamour Model Katie Price has been offered a full refund by popular tour operator Sandals after criticising them for ‘almost ruining her wedding’.

Katie Price arranged her third wedding to Keiran Hayler at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa in the Bahamas. She made a number of claims with regards to the hotel and resort stating ‘our wedding tent was made out of plastic too. It looked like it had come straight out of a B&Q flat pack…’ and then went onto complain about the plastic sunbeds. Despite the wedding resort being recommended by Katie’s friend Michelle Heaton who was a member of pop group Liberty X, Katie complained that the description of the resort in the brochure did not match the actual wedding destination.

Katie told The Sun newspaper ‘Sandals my ar*e, more like smelly old flip flop’. She further added that the atmosphere was for 18-30 year olds rather than the romantic resort she was hoping for.

Holiday Package Deal

As part of Katie’s wedding package deal, a butler service was also offered, however, Katie expressed her dissatisfaction with the service she and her partner had received, with the employee going as far as to ask if she was a porn star. Sandals resort have denied such a comment having been made but offered to refund Katie the full amount of her holiday provided that she never booked with them again.

Whilst a Sandals spokesperson was surprised by Katie Price’s allegations, it was believed that Sandals went as far as possible to accommodate her needs, especially given her status in the UK. In a statement, Sandals commented stating that ‘they have been awarded some of the industry’s top accolades and awards including the ‘World’s Leading All-Inclusive’ at the World Travel Awards and Top All-Inclusive Brand For Honeymooners’.’

Whilst Sandals are known as one of the leading travel experts specifically tailoring honeymoon and wedding packages, holidaymakers are always advised to ensure they carefully check their holiday package deal to ensure that their full requirements have been met.

It is unknown whether Katie’s claim would have been upheld in law, however claims such as these are common and often give rise to successful holiday complaints.
